Gandalf is a male that a friend purchased to show. When that didn't happen, he was offered to us. He is a correct guy with a great temperament and is a working Property Guardian. He is not super tall but is getting quite thick. He loves children.
Gandalf is an interesting color and many people have asked if he is an Alaskan Malamute or a husky mix. Gandalf is 100% CAO (as proven in his Embark) and is genetically a black and tan (tricolor) dog. He has the domino/grizzle gene, which is also found in Malamutes and Huskies so it is no surprise people get confused. It is fairly common in CAO and causes silver brindle and grey coats.
Gandalf is not safe with poultry despite our many attempts to train him. He is the only CAO we own who is not safe with them. He will kill them. He has never harmed our sheep but has also never been unsupervised with them and he does chase them. He is ok with females his size but he is food aggressive so needs fed separate. He is not ok with other males and will attack them. He can behave himself in public though.
